Randle has to see your screen and hear your voice to help you. So here is exactly what goes where. The short version: it only looks and listens when you ask, and our servers don't keep what it sees or hears.
When Randle looks and listens
- The microphone is on only while you hold the keys, while you're dictating, or during a conversation you started.
- Your screen is seen when you talk to Randle or give it a task, and while it's working on that task.
- When Randle is idle, nothing is captured and nothing is sent.
What passes through to answer you
To answer you, these go to the AI services listed below. They pass through and our servers don't store them:
- Your voice, and the words you say or type
- Pictures of your screen, and the names and text of what's on it
- The text of documents you ask Randle to read or explain
- What Randle says back to you
What we keep
- Your account: your email address and when you joined.
- Your Macs: the name of each Mac you sign in on, so you can see and remove them.
- Usage totals: how much you used each service and what it cost, such as a number of tokens, minutes or characters. These records never include what was said or shown.
- Sign-in records: sign-in codes and session tokens, stored only in scrambled (hashed) form.
- Payment records: your plan and billing status. Our payment provider handles your card, and we never see the full number.
- Technical logs: our host keeps short-lived logs, such as IP addresses and error messages, to keep the service running and secure.
What stays on your Mac
Your settings and Randle's own log files stay on your Mac. Your sign-in token is kept in your Mac's Keychain.
Who helps us run Randle
- OpenAI: voice conversation, transcription and seeing your screen.
- OpenRouter and the AI model providers it connects to: reading your screen, deciding each step and cleaning up dictation.
- Cartesia: turning Randle's replies into speech.
- Cloudflare: hosting this website and Randle's service.
- Neon: our database, hosted in Frankfurt, Germany.
- Resend: sending your sign-in emails.
We share with them only what each needs to do its job, and they handle it under their own terms. Some of them work outside your country, including in the United States.
